Purpose of Policy
The primary goal of this phone policy is to ensure the safety of all employees within the manufacturing facility by minimizing distractions, preventing potential hazards, and maintaining a focus on operational excellence.
1. Restricted Phone Usage Areas:
a. Phone use is strictly prohibited in designated high-risk zones and areas where heavy machinery is in operation. Phones may be with you in these areas (in your pocket or in a phone case on your belt) but must not be used. This also includes listening to audio through Bluetooth or wireless speakers. No wireless earbuds or headphones are allowed to be used in these areas.
b. Use of phones is only allowed in designated break areas (computer area) offices, or other designated safe zones.
2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
a. Phones must not interfere with the proper use of PPE. Employees are required to secure their phones safely, ensuring they do not compromise the effectiveness of their PPE. Securing within a pocket or in a phone case attached to your belt is acceptable.
3. Emergency Situations:
a. In the event of an emergency, employees are permitted to use their phones to call for assistance.
b. Emergency calls take precedence over any other phone use, and employees should report the emergency immediately to their supervisor.
4. Use of Headsets:
a. Headsets or earphones that block out ambient noise are strictly prohibited in all facility areas.
b. If communication devices are necessary, employees should use approved communication systems that do not compromise their awareness of the surroundings.
5. Photography & Video Recordings
a. Taking photos or recording videos within the facility is strictly prohibited unless requested and authorized by management.
b. Unauthorized photography or video recordings may result in disciplinary action.
6. Breaks & Lunchtime
a. Employees may use their phones during designated break times and lunch hours in designated areas (computer area).
b. Employees should be mindful not to bring their phones into operational areas after breaks, unless it is not in use, and in their pocket or in a case attached to their belt.
7. Reporting Issues
a. Employees are encouraged to report any safety hazards or concerns related to phone usage promptly. This includes witnessing a co-worker using their phone in an unauthorized area or during the use of machinery.
b. Supervisors and management will address reported issues promptly.
8. Training
a. All employees will receive training (review) on this phone policy during their orientation.
b. Periodic reminders and updates will be provided to ensure ongoing awareness. 9. Posting of Policy a. This policy will be physically posted around the facility – as a constant reminder to facility staff.
10. Disciplinary Actions
a. Violations of this phone policy may result in disciplinary actions, ranging from verbal warnings to written reprimands, depending on the severity and frequency of the offense.
b. Repeated violations may lead to further consequences, including suspension or termination.
