  • Dustin Bowers, the founder of PLAEX Building Systems™, was deeply inspired to help make the world a better place after becoming a parent in 2017. Drawing on his more than two decades of building experience, he collaborated with industry leaders to develop an improved method of construction. This led to the creation of PLAEX™ and the proprietary equipment driving the technology. PLAEX™ is a Plug-and-Play Distributed Manufacturing Platform Transforming Global Waste Streams into Next-Generation Resilient Infrastructure. Sustainable building material composites, and innovative interlocking systems designed to address the numerous challenges in the building industry and our planet.

  • PLAEX Building Systems™ offers unique construction solutions through a composite material called PLAEX-crete™, made from over 90% recycled waste. The company then uses this material to manufacture modular construction blocks that don't require cutting or mortar; this saves builders time and labor costs. PLAEX™ produces durable and fully interlocking building systems with a patented process that uses a mix of difficult-to-recycle materials, including agricultural, marine, and industrial plastic waste and aggregate waste from the construction industry. These systems can be used in various low-rise construction projects, from retaining walls and flood walls to sheds, foundations, and even entire wall systems* (pending certification). Plus, they can be reused again and again.

  • PLAEX™ is committed to developing an ever-growing ecosystem of simple and innovative building products, from unused and underused waste streams for the construction of eco-friendly, sustainable structures that will last generations while saving on energy costs. We aim to raise the quality standards of buildings and structures around the globe.

    PLAEX™ operates on a circular economy model through simple assembly & disassembly as well as recycling products into new products through our stewardship program.

PROBLEMS WE FACE

  • 340M tons of plastic waste is generated each year globally; less than 10% of that amount is recycled. Construction consumes over 50% of all resources extracted globally every year. Demolition generates an estimated 2.2B tons of waste annually, with less than half being recycled.

  • A staggering 81% of construction companies responding to the 2020 Construction Outlook Survey reported having difficulty finding professionals to fill hourly and salaried positions. The average age of a skilled trades worker in North America is now over 55. An increase in younger generations choosing careers in the tech industry means there is a high number of unskilled labourers on job sites, which results in more errors, accidents, waste, and costs.

  • Inflation, price of lumber, labour, and material costs all contribute to the high price tag when building with traditional materials. PLAEX™ products are priced competitively and reduce overall project costs through quick assembly that requires minimal skills & tools.

THE PLAEX SOLUTION

  • By replacing traditional building materials like wood, brick, and concrete, our system has the potential to divert and store gigatons of GHG (1.65 tonnes CO2 diversion per tonne of PLAEX Bricks), simultaneously reducing the environmental impact of both the agricultural and construction sectors and creating a value-added solution to massive amounts of municipal waste, all while simplifying and streamlining the entire building process.

  • PLAEX™ products are developed with an interlocking design that does not require any prior installation skills. This intuitive innovation eliminates the need for cutting or using mortar, which is typically necessary when working with traditional building materials. As a result, fewer resources are required for training, configuring, installing, or operating PLAEX's flagship products. These products were specifically designed with builders in mind, ensuring that end-users should experience little to no challenges when adopting the PLAEX™ systems.

  • Designed with the future of autonomous construction in mind, we are licensing our automation-ready technology and process to production partners around the world with the intent of solving waste issues globally in a truly scalable fashion.

THE TECHNOLOGY

PLAEX Equipment (IMIX8 & MATEx)

  • We have developed an intelligent construction platform that enables the fabrication of building materials comprised of hard-to-use waste streams. These building materials will lower the cost of home construction considerably. Our technology enables turning local plastic and construction waste into durable building blocks right where it is needed. Every factory we set up connects to our cloud network and shares live operational data. This creates a powerful learning loop: more deployments around the world mean more data collected by our central system. This constant stream of data allows our technology to learn, improve, and maximize optimization across our entire network automatically.

  • PLAEX Building Systems™ machinery is completely modular and built to fit inside two 40-foot shipping containers. This plug-and-play design makes it simple to ship and set up anywhere in the world. The equipment features built-in smart sensors that scan the incoming waste materials in real time. Our automated software adjusts the machine settings on the fly, ensuring that mixed local waste is always transformed into uniform, high-quality building materials.

  • Our model is licensing, and our revenue will be derived from sale of equipment plus royalties paid by the licensees. We have 4 unique pieces of IP and trademarks, with patents issued in 20 countries and patent-pending in over 70.
